A downloadable project

Hello! This page is for keeping track of any games I've worked on that don't have a page on my itch.io account. This includes games I worked on as part of a group, as well as games that I'm unable to, or haven't chosen to, upload on itch.io.

Game Design and Art Collaboration (GDA):

Games made as part of UC Santa Cruz's game club, Game Design and Art Collaboration (GDA.) While I list what I did on this page, you can also view the specific work I did in the credits of each game.

Tacocat: https://game-design-art-collab.itch.io/tacocat

Worked on the coding for hand movement and orders for different species during the taco making sections, and the camera during the driving sections, as well as implementing the updated UI for the gauge. Play as a cat driving a taco truck to meet up with your friend before they move away! Make tacos along the way to pay for gas, and meet with your friend before they leave!

Malisense: https://game-design-art-collab.itch.io/malisense

Worked on the coding for the in-game sound detection system, a few items including the hand artifact, level select screen, and implementation of sound effects. Dive into an ancient dungeon filled with monsters, and solve puzzles to search further and further.

Game jams:

Games made in game jams. Currently, most of said game jams were performed under GDA.

Rossfight: https://icysmooth.itch.io/rossfight

Worked on music/sounds, as well as the concept. Made as part of the GDA Microgame Jam 2022. All the games in this jam were combined into a warioware style game you can play here.

Armapace: https://pdobbins23.itch.io/armapace

Worked on coding and music/sounds, as well as the concept. Made as part of the GDA/Crown Minigame Jam.  The combined warioware style game for this jam hasn't been published yet, so you can only play it through the above link. The game currently seems to start with the screen the wrong size; you may need to adjust it such that it matches the size of the background image.

CMPM 120 games:

Games made using Javascript for my CMPM 120 class, all made in Phaser 3 with the exception of Bad Grade, which was made using a framework provided by the teacher. To my understanding, I could upload these as official games, but due to most of them being relatively small, I chose against it. Ordered from oldest to newest. All games in this category are (at the time of writing) made by myself, using either free to use or self made assets.

Bad Grade: https://ashtontankgallistel.github.io/BadGrade/

A text-based puzzle game with multiple endings. Made using a text-based game framework provided by the teacher. You completely failed your test; try and find a way to hide it from your parents!

Ashton's OK Space Shooter: https://ashtontankgallistel.github.io/Ashtons-OK-Space-Shooter/

A Galaga-esque space shooter. Shoot at enemies, and try to last as long as possible!

Winter Letter Delivery: https://ashtontankgallistel.github.io/Winter-Letter-Delivery/

A platformer game. Deliver a letter to a family of snowman on a snowy mountain! (Arrow keys to move/jump, D to hide/show hitboxes)

Winter Letter Delivery DX: https://ashtontankgallistel.github.io/Winter-Letter-Delivery-DX/

A platformer game, specifically an upgraded version of the previous one. Features a far bigger level, a title and win screen, parallax scrolling, checkpoints, and a letter collection sound effect! (Arrow keys to move/jump, D to hide/show hitboxes)

Flight of Icarus: https://ashtontankgallistel.github.io/Flight-of-Icarus/

A top-down roguelite inspired by the Binding of Isaac. Shoot at enemies, collect items and coins, fight bosses, and progress through as many floors as possible. Each floor is randomly generated from a selection of rooms, going on infinitely until the player is defeated. Made as the final for CMPM 120. Also, there's a non-zero chance I'll upload this as an actual page on my itch.io account at some point.

Game AI class game:

Tavern Week: https://github.com/sngbird/Ai_as_Community

An AI-focused game utilizing the "Comme il Faut" AI system seen in the game Prom Week. You act as the guild master for a group of adventurers working under this AI system. Suggest actions for them to perform that can make them closer allies or worse enemies, and then send them off on quests determined by the status of their relationship. A more in-depth explanation of the system, specifically the slides we produced for our class presentation, can be found here: (link). I specifically worked on the suggestions system that the game uses, alongside the menu interfaces focused on selecting suggestions and seeing their.
